Lilleand Films is an independent film production company founded by Norwegian actor, writer and filmmaker Daniel Munkli, based between London and Norway.

Inspired by a song Daniel´s parents used to sing to him when he was a child. “Swim little duck, far across the sea, find a friend in distant lands”. We make intimate, visually driven stories about the human experience — exploring loneliness, love, grief, addiction, mental health, identity and human connection.

Our work is rooted in Scandinavian realism while drawing from contemporary independent and arthouse cinema. We are interested in the quiet moments between people: the things left unsaid, the awkwardness of connection, and the beauty that can exist within ordinary and difficult lives.

We believe in telling stories honestly and without looking away from uncomfortable subjects. Our films can be dark, strange or challenging, but ultimately they are stories about people — and about finding connection in a world that can make us feel alone.

Lilleand Films was founded with the ambition to build a creative community of filmmakers, writers, actors, composers and artists who share this vision. Beginning with short films, the company is developing towards feature films and larger productions for audiences in Norway, the UK and internationally.
